RootsMagic is a genealogy application used in researching, organizing, tracking, printing and sharing family history. Users can create a family tree utilizing a set of tools for designing which is provided by the software. It features a Timeline View where users can input updates about events in their lives as well as the other members of their family, and it has Media Tagging for tagging people, families, sources and places. The Research Manager helps in keeping track of goals, results and sources that the users collected about a person, a family member or a place. CountyCheck helps in confirming the existence of a country, state or a county from a multi-national database and makes the necessary correction if there are any errors. It can display online maps of county boundaries and also features an On This Day List that showcases the family history and displays family events like births, deaths, or any historical event of a given year. The software supports importing of PAF file types from FamilySearch. It may be run using a USB Flash drive using the RootsMagic To-Go. Users can search on the Web using the application and avoid copying and pasting names and dates because the software will automatically generate it.
