Interplay Descent

Interplay Descent is a 3D first-person shooter (FPS) video game developed by Parallax Software and released by Interplay. It is centered on gun and other projectile weapons combat through a first-person perspective. The game features 3D worlds with texture mapping, texture shading, 3D morphing, directional sound effects, and a spectacular soundtrack. It can be played in a single-player or in a multiplayer mode using a platform with MS-DOS, Windows 95, and Mac OS operating system. It is playable on a 386-based PC, but a Pentium CPU is preferred for maximum rendering quality. The video game requires players to fight virus-infected robots while navigating labyrinthine mines. The primary objective of the game is to find and destroy each mine’s reactor core, rescuing hostage workers and escaping before the mine is destroyed by the meltdown. It progresses from the Moon to Mercury, then through the solar system and outbound towards Pluto’s moon Charon. Players gain points through a complementary system that awards points when an enemy robot is destroyed or a reactor is detonated. Bonus points are awarded on completion of a game level and on the number of hostages picked up and safely rescued.
